Measurement of the molding flow property of discontinuous long-fiber reinforced plastic
A squeeze flow test is typically used to evaluate the flow property of a workpiece. The material data for the analysis method implemented by J-Composites / Compression Molding can be identified from a squeeze flow test.
Flexcarbon® Sqeeze Flow Test
The ROS type discontinuous long-fiber reinforced plastic Flexcarbon® was used to perform a squeeze flow test. The material was heated in a constant-temperature oven, then compressed with a flat plate. The compressive load was measured to identify the material data. Comparison between the final deformation geometry and the simulation result shows good correlation. Squeeze flow simulations with material data identified at different temperatures successfully represented the compressive load measured during the test.
